Oli's building projects

The Olimonster has been very fond of his blocks lately, and has been constructing some amazing towers, most of them taller than he is! His hands are very steady and it's fun to watch him concentrate as he places each block carefully. We decided to document his latest creation (not tall, but very jenga-like), which made for some fun photo time :)

Pleased to be posing for a picture with his creation

Showing us his dimple (tower in the background)

Say 'cheese'!

Oli is coming along well with his language these days, trying to say every word I ask him to. He recognises how useful it is: he says 'more' when he wants another slice of peach, or 'down' and 'up' when he wants to be in his chair/on the ground/on your lap/picked up. So, today, I decided to see if he wanted to say 'cheese' for the camera, and, after some initial reluctance, he was very forthcoming.

Getting handsome for the camera

I know it's been a while, but this blogger has been a little...distracted.
Here are a few cute photos of my man getting himself all handsome after a bath. He loves brushing his hair now, and is taking more responsibility for his appearance by choosing his own clothes to wear. Handsome AND clever :) Like there was ever a doubt...

Doing some post-bath grooming
His hair is getting so long these days...
Cool little man watching TV in his hat
Your turn?

Humid day at home...

Well, today was very, very humid and stormy in Melbourne, and, consequently, little man hung out for most of the day his boxer shorts and singlet. He has some teeth coming through at the moment, and that, coupled with the stifling, moist weather, made for some cute-but-forlorn expressions.

Looking all forlorn and winsome
Having a bit of a complain to Mum :(
Looking a little more relaxed here...
This heat is tough on a little man...
Even if it IS a bit sticky, at least he can relieve his tooth-related woes with a nice set of teething keys...

Clowning around

I promised the masses more new Oli pictures, and I am not about to disappoint his most captive and loyal fans! Here are a few cute ones of him playing up to the camera as we try to keep cool inside today.

Til next time...

The cutest timeline EVER!

A quick update first: Today was a pretty nice day here, we went to the pet shop this afternoon and saw birds, lizards, snakes, bunnies, kittens, puppies and fish. To be honest, Oli seemed more interested in the mechanisms on the cages than the animals, but he was pretty taken by the large Cockatoo (with many warning signs on his cage - 'Don't stick your fingers in the cage if you like having ten of them' etc).
Well, because I haven't got any new photos, I thought I would do the Oli blog version of the 'clip show', or the 'greatest hits' album, and put up a series showing just how he has grown, starting at 'just born' and ending just before I started the blog. Without further ado...

It's tiring being one day old.

Looking a little like Mr Worry at about a month and a half.

Tummy time at almost-but-not-quite six months.

Ten months old and what an expression. Who wouldn't love that face?

About a month after his first birthday, walking like a little champ.

Almost 18 months, having a great time with his cereal.

A little more than a month ago, happily playing in his fort.

Stay tuned.

Brought to you by the letter 'B' (for 'Breakfast' and 'Building Blocks')

Now I don't want to overcompensate for the lack of blog entries over the past week, but I figure you'll be after SOME kind of compensation after putting up with Oli withdrawals, so I've documented two parts of Oli's day for you :)
Firstly, we have a few cute breakfast shots of Oli stuffing his face with toast and vegemite, followed by a series of pictures of he and Isabel building towers with the mega blocks. No additional captions needed, the pictures speak for themselves :)

New blog - finally!

Well, it's been an interesting week, and I haven't really been in as close proximity to my Olimonster as I would have liked. He seems to have grown so much in my absence, and I wasn't gone for THAT long!
He attempts to mimic every word we say now, and has grown a couple of inches in just two months. He's so much steadier on his feet and confident in his movements. I am such a proud Mum when he listens carefully and answers my questions with a nod of his head or a word. I can't wait until we're having whole conversations...
Anyway, here are two pictures I liked, I hope to have more soon.

If you look closely, you can see that he is holding a flower stem in one hand (sans actual flower) and a dry leaf in the other. Strange, but cute.

My little future heart-breaker...

Keeping Cool

It was a bit warm here both yesterday and today, so we decided that a refreshing bath ('barp') might help Oli beat the heat and get rid of the sweatiness. Here he is after his bath, clowning around in the tiger towel and frolicking in his boxer shorts.

A story in pictures

Thought I would share this little series of pictures, taken yesterday.

Art Attack!

Oli has the drawing bug at the moment, and is keen to explore the crayons, so we thought we would let him loose. I only had to tell him to get the crayon out of his mouth once or twice this time, that's a record for us! But he is otherwise very sensible with the crayons and adheres to the rules (only draw on the paper, don't eat the crayons, don't throw the crayons) - well, most of the time ;)
Here are some pictures of him hard at work.

Trying to decide which crayon he should eat...I mean use.

Posing with his canvas.

Taken by surprise with more crayons in his hand than he could actually ever use at once.

Being grumpy and cross with mummy because she wont let him draw on the camera lens with the crayon. Nasty, boring mummy.
